The Rigo Padilla Pérez Undocumented Student Resource Center
The Rigo Padilla Pérez Undocumented Student Resource Center
The Rigo Padilla Pérez Undocumented Student Resource Center was founded in October 2023. Inspired by the resilience and dedication of Rigo Padilla Pérez, the center opened its doors as a sanctuary for undocumented and mixed-status students at the University of Illinois Chicago. Since then, we have been committed to providing a welcoming and empowering space where students can access resources, build community, and receive support throughout their educational journey.
At the center, we are dedicated to supporting the personal and professional success of undocumented and mixed-status students at UIC. We recognize the unique challenges our students face and work to address their needs holistically.
Our services include, but are not limited to:
Know Your Rights Education and Training
Public Benefits Referrals
Legal Services Referrals
Completion of Emergency Planning
Referrals to Mental Health and Wellness Services
Workshops on Navigating Campus and Community Resources
Advocacy and Policy Updates relevant to undocumented and mixed-status students
By centering our work on equity, dignity, and inclusion, the Rigo Padilla Pérez Undocumented Student Resource Center continues Rigo’s legacy, ensuring that every student, regardless of immigration status, has the tools, knowledge, and support to thrive at UIC and beyond.
